What is Spirit Control? (スピリットのコントロール Supiritto no Kontorōru) is an advanced Ki manipulation technique known primarily to the Yardrat race. Spirit Control allows its user to achieve a multitude of potent abilities through their ki, including Instant Transmission (a basic ability), Cloning, Gigantification, Healing (an advanced ability) and Forced Spirit Fission (an extremely advanced ability). These abilities achieved through Spirit Control are used by shifting, splitting and growing the user's spirit. Achieving good Spirit Control allows the user to sense ki from a much greater distance and utilize their energy to attack much more efficiently, though at first this newfound ability to use their ki properly causes the power to be somewhat uncontrollable.
What is Soul? In many religious and philosophical traditions, there is a belief in "an immaterial aspect or essence of a living being", generally applied to humans, called the soul. In lay terms, the soul is the spiritual essence of a person, which includes one's identity, personality, and memories that is believed to be able to survive physical death.
Spirit Explanation. The normal spiritual body is made up of two main parts. Ki and soul. There are much more in-depth categories inside of these two inner energies such as, genki, yūki, and shōki for ki. Deities are born with extra parts such as, God Ki or Divine Ki (which is also obtainable as a mortal). But these are the main two parts for the average mortal. Ki and soul (spirit). These two energies are what's keeping you alive right now. Without one, the other can not process correctly and the body and mind would not be living. The soul is you, your spirit. You are not your body. If your body happens to die, your soul/spirit would move onto another realm. Like how in Dragon Ball when you die you go to Other World, but in Son Goku's case, he got to keep his body. The soul cannot be destroyed unless you get hit with a Hakai from a God Of Destruction or die whilst already being dead in the afterlife.

Put simply, you have ki energy and your spirit inside of you right now. They are two different energies, similar to the phrase, Yin and Yang. They are often confused to be the same but are different in there own ways. To be well versed with spirit energy, you must know a lot about ki energy. It is the same vise versa. If Goku for some reason didn't know anything about ki when he was on Planet Yardrat, he would not have been able to use spirit control and learn Instant Transmission. Being proficient with spirit control, you would be able to sense ki from greater distances than you would have been able to before training spirit. To know how to control your spirit, you must know how to control your ki.
Various Types of Spirit Control Techniques. You may have heard of these techniques before. Instant Transmission, Cloning, Gigantification, Healing, and Forced Spirit Fission. There are also many more techniques that we don't even know of yet and may possible can create. There are also ones we have heard of like the Spirit Bomb. Get it? It's in the name. Spirit Bomb. It works by the user transferring a little bit of good ki and spirit energy from the whatever they are taking from (ex. Earth, Trees, Life, etc). This is why it only harms evil entities. In the Saiyan Saga, Kid Gohan deflected the Spirit Bomb because he had no evil within his spirit. That is why the spirit bomb couldn't damage him because the good spirit in the attack couldn't hurt another good spirit so its natural reaction is to go through the entity or deflect. Like how positives and negatives attract and don't attract. Basically the spirit bomb is made up of the good spirit of the transferee, and the good ki from it. The spirit as a placeholder and the ki being as the offense (the part doing the actual damage). But we will talk about spirit bombs another time. Another technique we heard of that may include or help using spirit control is Astral Projection. I still don't know that much about AP, but I would assume that you are projecting your spirit through different realms and more specifically the astral realm. Kind of how Instant Transmission works but instead of moving your body along with the spirit, your body stays where it's at like as if you are lucid dreaming. Again, we will talk about other techniques another time in-depth.
